Tammin Observatory

ASWA maintains its Wheatbelt observatory north of the town of Tammin. Located just two hours from Perth, the observatory is under Bortle 1 conditions and the sky quality is generally better than 21.8 mag/arcsec². A slight light dome of Cunderdin to the west and Tammin to the south can be seen at low elevation.

The observatory has level telescope pads, a composting Kazuba toilet, semi-outdoor hot shower, potable town water, sea container with BBQ and various other amenities.

Members are required to provide their own accommodation, tent, swag, caravan etc., and their own power if required. The observatory is accessible by 2WD vehicles.

The observatory is open to all members 365 days per year, excluding days of a total fire ban. New members are required to complete a site induction.

Development plans include a clubhouse with solar power, air conditioning, and additional storage to house 16-inch and 17.5-inch dobsonian telescopes
